Saint Lucia Kings’ players to watch out for: Saint Kitts and Nevis leg

The second leg at Saint Kitts and Nevis is just around the corner for our men from Saint Lucia Kings. After a grueling, yet fruitful first leg in Saint Lucia, our boys have had some time off away from the pitch to prepare for the second half of the 2023 CPL tournament.

Some of our star players have lived up to the hype so far in the matches we have played, while the others are yet to unleash their full potential. Nonetheless, these are the players that you need to watch out for in our upcoming games, as the tournament heads into its business end.

Sikandar Raza

It has been a quiet start for the Zimbabwean star in the 2023 CPL. With just 27 runs and 1 wicket from his two games so far, fans had expected much more from their star all-rounder.

His compatriot Sean Williams on the other hand has been racking up those runs for us and the same is expected from Raza as well in the upcoming games. The middle order for us has been our Achilles heel this season and Sikandar Raza’s experience will be key to steadying the ship in the middle overs.

Johnson Charles

Our leading run scorer from last season. The Saint Lucia born wicket-keeper batter was in fine form in the 2022 CPL but is yet to discover that kind of form in the current edition.

While 54 runs from the two innings that he has played so far isn’t a poor record, fans will be expecting much more from their star batter. His exploits alongside Faf du Plessis were one of the key factors that propelled us to the playoffs last season.

Any chance of us lifting our maiden CPL trophy come the end of the tournament, will be heavily dependent on whether or not Johnson Charles is able to score runs on a consistent basis.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa

We welcomed another star wicket-keeper batter to our squad in the recent break - Bhanuka Rajapaksa. The Sri Lankan batter is coming off the back of a decent Lanka Premier League campaign. Rajapaksa helped his team to a play-off finish.

The left-hand batter had a good start to the tournament with a 48-run knock but failed to capitalize on that inning further down the tournament. Nevertheless, Rajapaksa adds loads of experience to our already star-studded squad and no doubt boosts our chances of going to the latter stages of this year’s CPL.
