Undefeated Trinbago Knight Riders next up for Zouks

St.Lucia Zouks take on undefeated Trinbago Knight Riders in their next game in the 2020 Hero Caribbean Premier League on Saturday, August 5. With both teams having already qualified for the semi finals, the game is largely a dead rubber contest. Nevertheless, Daren Sammy’s side would be up for it as this game is a great opportunity for the Zouks to inflict the first loss of CPL 2020 on the Trinbago Knight Riders and get their batting line-up firing again ahead of the semis.

The Trinbago Knight Riders have been the form side in the CPL since the inception of the tournament in 2013, and that shows in their superior head-to-head record. The three-time champions have started off this season brightly as well, winning all of their eight games so far. However, if there is a team that can give them a run for their money, it is the St.Lucia Zouks. If they can get their batting in order, one can expect a close contest this time around.

Watch out for:

Mohammad Nabi has been a consistent performer for the Zouks with both bat and ball this season. Coming up against an in-form Trinbago Knight Riders side, captain Sammy would be relying on the experience and versatility of Nabi to come to the fore once again. If Nabi can provide a good start in the powerplay overs with the ball once again, it is bound to keep the other bowlers the confidence to perform well against the table toppers.

Leniko Boucher has a golden chance to prove his mettle this time around as the Zouks management would look to rest a few of their regulars. The youngster played the previous two games for the franchise and got a start against the Barbados Tridents as well. With his side still looking for consistency and form in their top-order, Boucher would be hoping to make the most of his third opportunity and make a big score for himself.

Opponent Corner:

Trinbago Knight Riders managed two comprehensive wins in their previous two games, mainly thanks to the top-order batting exploits of Colin Munro and Lendl Simmons respectively. The three-time champions have a strong core team of all rounders as well, with captain Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine in their roster. On the bowling front, they have many spinners at their disposal who have made it difficult for opposition teams to score freely against them.

Probable XI: Andre Fletcher, Rahkeem Cornwall, Kimani Melius, Mark Deyal, Leniko Boucher, Mohammad Nabi, Kavem Hodge, Daren Sammy (c), Javelle Glenn, Scott Kuggelejin, Kesrick Williams.

NOTE:The aforementioned line-up is an educated guess at best, and the final decision rests with the captain and the team management depending on various external factors.
